{ Fox News Rising at Breathing Room }
Moms, take a deep breath, school is back in session! It can be bittersweet, especially if your youngest is going to Kindergarten, but suddenly, you have time to yourself. Time to nurture yourself.
In honor of all you moms and moms-to-be:
Breathing Room invites you (everyone, not just moms) to be our guest at both our Tuesday morning classes on August 26th.
6 am Vinyasa with Hollace Stephenson.
Fox News Rising will be here at 5:30 to interview you! Get daddy to wake the kids up and feed them breakfast. I bet he can make some killer pancakes (okay, cereal).
9:30 Basics with Pat Joslyn.
The news crew may not still be here, but you'll have a wonderful experience with our most experienced teacher.
Stay after class for for some coffee or herbal tea, yummy and healthful snacks, tips, breathing exercises and a sampling of our fall yoga fashions. We will have Yogi mom's on hand to talk about the importance of taking time to breathe.

{ Tyler's Treehouse }
Breathing Room is bronze sponsor of Tyler's Treehouse 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk
Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 6. The enjoyable, but challenging 5K, will begin at 8 AM and the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk starts at 9 AM. Once the running is done the fun really begins as you can cool down in the Olde Georgetowne Pool.
Tyler William Scott was born on August 14, 2000. "Ty" is the third son of four boys (Chase, Bryce, and Aidan) born to Howard and Dana Scott.
Tyler was distinctive from the very first moment you laid eyes on him. He was, most important to him, a "workerman." Ty loved to work in the yard with his Dad, or better yet, work in his neighbors’ yard. It was not uncommon to see Tyler blowing leaves with his electrical blower on a Saturday or Sunday in the fall for hours at a time. This past Christmas Tyler did not ask for a single toy. He only wanted tools and a real workbench. Santa delivered him the goods and Ty was off and running trying to drill, hammer, or cut any piece of wood available. Tyler never tired of doing yard work or a home improvement project. He was at his happiest when he had his tool belt "double wrapped" on his hip full of his tools so he could get the job done.
Tyler was diagnosed with brainstem glioma on Jan. 30, 2006. Tyler had not shown any symptoms of this deadly disease until a week before the MRI. Ty and his parents went to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to treat Ty. Unfortunately, his tumor was so advanced that he was unable to even start treatment in Memphis. Tyler and his parents returned to Charlotte so he could say goodbye to his favorite people: Chase, Bryce, and Aidan.
Tyler died on February 8, 2006 with his parents by his side. Even in his final hours and moments of life he was beautiful, courageous, and a workerman. His breathing tube was taken out at 8:15 PM and he breathed on his own for another 8-1/2 hours. Ty had worked a full day!
October through June
{ Teacher Training Course }
The Breathing Room is delighted to announce we are offering a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Course registered with and accredited by the Yoga Alliance through Equipoise
What is unique about this TT is that it is based on the original science of yoga and includes hatha (physical), raja (mental), karma (spiritual), pranayama (breathing), japa (repetition of a mantra), and Dhyana (meditation).
The training includes an in-depth study of anatomy and movement, offering students a more thorough understanding of the poses (asanas) and how the body moves. During the certification program Teacher Trainees will learn to accurately articulate thirty to forty asanas and their modifications with emphasis on learning how to stimulate students to always grow in their practice and preventing injury.
Teacher Trainees will study the "Yoga Sutras" to gain a clearer understanding of how our thoughts and emotions contribute to or distract us from our well-being. Through reading and discussing "The Bhagavad Gita, " one of the original spiritual instructions of yoga, teacher trainees will gain a clearer understanding of how to live their lives productively, comfortably and compassionately.
Classes will meet one weekend a month for nine months. Eighteen hours each month will be scheduled on Friday evenings from 6:00 to 10:00 PM, Saturdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 PM and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. At the completion of this course, students can become certified through the Yoga Alliance to teach. Teacher training starts October 10th, 11, 12 (November 14th 15th and 16th; December 12, 13 and 14th) continuing to meet the second weekend of each month until mid-June, 2009.
Our Teacher Training will be taught by Pat Joslyn, EYRT. Anyone who has experienced Pat knows she has a gift. Her focus is simply to share yoga. A student of Swami Satchidinanda, the founder of the Integral Yoga Institute in New York City, Pat has taught more than 10,000 hours.
